A watershed moment for the GOP is occurring. G.W. Bush has essentially spent all of the political capital that was held by the Rockefeller wing of the GOP which has created a breach to allow the Goldwater/Taft wing of the GOP to overtake the moral and intellectual high ground from the Rockefeller/Eastern Establishment. This is being accomplished by the unleashing of libertarian political thought and views on the web. The MSM, which by it's very nature is Eastern Establishment, can no longer be the sole arbitrator of the battle that has been on going since Jefferson and Hamilton first feuded over the proper role of the Federal Government. Quigley's essay captures the nature of this battle succinctly.
